A court order has been reportedly obtained by the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit known as Taskforce for a public auction of 88 vehicles forfeited by Lagos State Mobile Court after breaking the one-way rules

This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye, on Monday in which he said the vehicles to be auctioned by the government were impounded by the enforcement team of the Agency for driving against traffic laws at different parts of the state.

“They were all arraigned and forfeited by court in line with Part (3) item (27) of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reformed Law of 2018,” Jejeloye noted.

Speaking further, Jejeloye said the auction session won’t contravene the COVID 19 protocols and is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 20th of January, 2021 at the Agency’s Car Park, Behind Shoprite, Alausa, Ikeja.

Jejeloye also warned motorists to avoid breaking traffic laws as the rule against one way driving is strictly enforced with forfeiture of vehicles to the government without option of fine as the big penalty.

In the meantime, the coordinator of the Lagos State Mobile Court, Arinola Ogbara Banjoko confirmed that owners and drivers of these 88 court forfeited vehicles were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Micheal Olubi, Magistrate Lateef Layeni, Magistrate Oyebimbola Israel Adelakun, Magistrate Ibidun Abina and Magistrate Shakirat Obasa.

Recall that the menace of one way driving in Lagos had according to reports led to various degrees of accidents. On this, the State Government empowered the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit known as Taskforce to prosecute offenders with forfeiture as ultimate penalty.
