Nollywood actress, Lota Chukwu, has defended her colleague and co-star of Jenifa’s Diary, Funke Akindele, over her nomination as deputy governorship candidate.
Funke was on Tuesday confirmed as the People’s Democratic Party’s running mate to Olajide Adediran aka Jandor in Lagos State.
Many had questioned Funke’s proficiency in politics especially as this is her maiden foray.
She was also ridiculed and called out for being an actress with no knowledge.
However, in reaction, Lota said the misconception about people in the entertainment industry needs to stop because the majority are educated and well-trained in their offices.
She stated that Funke is capable because she is educated, a lawyer and is not dumb.
Lota wrote: “People arguing about Funke Akindele’s eligibility forget she has a law degree. Also, being an actor must mean someone is dumb to some of you.
“If only y’all know the brains it takes to study script after script and actually be as credible a thespian as she is.
“Let’s not go into what it takes to be a writer, director, producer for multiple award-winning works… and a businesswoman. The takes are quite disrespectful. Say something else.”
