Veteran actress, Rachael Oniga, is dead. She died aged 64.
This is coming weeks after the death of legendary singer Sound Sultan.
The actress was reported to have died on Friday, July 30, from Covid complications.
Oniga was born on 23 May 1957 in Ebute Metta, Lagos State and began her acting career in 1993, shortly after her divorce.
She worked briefly at Ascoline Nigeria Limited, a Dutch Consultant Company.
Oniga made her debut with the movie “Onome”.
The Lagos State chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rising, also confirmed the news when he spoke with a media house.
He said, “We just got the news early morning today. We have nothing to say than to give glory to God for a life well spent.”
“I got the news this morning, I have been down and surprised.”
Her son also spoke with THE PUNCH, he said his mom died of malaria and typhoid. The family has debunked the Covid-19 rumours.
