Grammy award winning British singer, Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, popularly known as Adele, has broken another record as the 2021 fastest selling album in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The album was released on November 19, with its lead single “Easy on Me” making waves since its release.

Adele’s fourth studio album became the most successful album of the year in the US in just three days after its release.

In the UK, Adele debuted at the top spot in the albums chart, with first-week sales of 261,000 according to the Official Charts, which said it was the biggest first week for an album since Ed Sheeran’s “Divide” (÷) in 2017.

The album’s lead single “Easy on Me” also claimed a sixth consecutive week at number one on the UK singles chart, after breaking the record for most streams in a single week after its release.

Although the album is yet to meet the previous album “25”, which became the fastest selling album in 2015 with 800,000 copies in the UK and 3.3 million in the US, “30” has sold more than 660,000 equivalent album units, which includes audio and video streaming and individual track sales. “30” has already triumphed over the other major releases of 2021.

According to the Official Charts, Adele was the only female act with three or more studio albums to reach number one with all her records.

She has retained that title “30”, which marks her fourth number one.

The lead single “Easy on Me” has spent four weeks in the top spot of the Hot 100 singles chart.

The singer in an interview with the VOGUE had explained that the album is a way to explain her divorce to her son.

She had performed her lead single since its release, with her son being one of the spectators even when the mother chose not to reveal her child’s face.

The album’s sales shows the British singer’s love for music and how she is able to put her vocals in her daily struggles.

Although the singer has always shunned streaming in the past, her songs have been removed from shuffle on Spotify.
