African leaders have agreed to give Sudan’s ruling military council three months to implement democratic reforms, Egypt’s official MENA news agency reported on Tuesday.
The leaders reached the agreement during a summit of the African Union (AU), which was chaired by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi.
“The African countries agreed to give more time to the Sudanese Military Council to carry out necessary measures with the help of the AU,’’ Sisi was quoted as saying.
Earlier, the AU set a 15-day deadline for Sudan’s Military Council to hand over its power to a civilian government.
The AU threatened to suspend Sudan’s membership if it fails to transfer power within the deadline.
Now the deadline has been extended to three months as 15 days are not enough for forming a government, said the Egyptian president.
The Sudanese Military Council has ruled the country since President Omar al-Bashir was militarily ousted on April 11.

Teddy A took to his Instagram page to share a cute photo of the birthday girl, with a message that goes to show that the love these guys share is far from over!
