Again, Lagos tops as Nigeria records 132 new Covid cases

For the second successive day and fourth time this week, Lagos has recorded over a hundred fresh coronavirus cases.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease (NCDC), the country’s epicentre had 109 new infections.

Lagos is facing a sudden surge in infections after some students of the University of Lagos tested positive.

The management of the institution has since ordered students to return home to prevent further infections.

The NCDC revealed that four states and the Federal Capital Territory also recorded new cases.

They are Rivers (16), Gombe (3), Katsina (2), FCT (1) and Nasarawa (1).

According to the centre, the country’s confirmed cases is currently 169,206 with 164,666 discharged.

This means that only 4,540 cases are active, receiving treatment at various isolation centres.

However, no patient died of the virus in the last 24 hours, pegging the fatalities at 2,126.
