Despite the ban on international flights, Super Eagles skipper, Ahmed Musa, has landed in Nigeria amidst the coronavirus outbreak.

Musa arrived the country on Wednesday night, dismissing claims on social media that he was accompanied by the COVID-19.

The ex-Leicester City forward, who now plies his trade at Al-Nassr Football Club in the Gulf League, described the rumour as “fake news” on Twitter.

“Please, ignore any false news about me or my family testing positive to COVID-19,” he said.

“We are self-isolating for 14 days as we just got in from Saudi Arabia, as the law stipulates. Stay safe! Maintain social distance.”

According to the World Health Organisation, Saudi Arabia, as of April 20, had 12,772 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 114 deaths, while 1,812 patients have recovered from the pandemic.

Musa isn’t the first Nigeria international to be embroiled in the coronavirus controversy.

In March, England-based stars, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi were asked to self-isolate as the virus took a toll on the United Kingdom.

The trio has since tested negative.
