Sequel to the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State against the conduct of the October election in the state, the Ondo State governorship election petition tribunal has fixed April 2021 for delivering its judgement.

The Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Umar Abubakar gave this information after counsels to the parties adopted their written addresses.

This followed multiple hearings on the petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party and its candidate, Eyitayo Jegede challenging the victory of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in the October 10 2020 election.

Adopting his final brief of arguement, Counsel to the petitioner, Onyekachi Ikpeazu, accused the defence counsel of trying to trivialliase constitutional matter.

However, he insisted that Akeredolu and his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, were not validly nominated to contest in the poll.

However in his final address, counsel to INEC, Charles Edosomwan, faulted the claim of the petitioner that Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa were not lawfully sponsored by the APC.
