Ondo state is gradually edging towards becoming the COVID-19 hotbed in Nigeria as the total number of confirmed cases in the state hits 1,103.
According to the statistics released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Akure, the Capital of Ondo State leads the pack with 1,691 suspected cases with 662 confirmed cases.
Other local government area with high record of cases are Ondo West with 333 suspected cases and 145 confirmed cases; Okitipupa local government with 354 suspected cases and 145 confirmed cases.
In Owo local government, 70 cases were confirmed out of 456 suspected cases and in Akure North, 138 suspected cases were recorded while 47 cases were confirmed.
Other local governments are Odigbo (20), Akoko South West (6), Ose (3), Ifedore (9), Akoko North West (2), Ilaje (2), Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo (3), Idanre (3), Ese Odo (2), Akoko North East (13), Irele (1), and Akoko South East (1).
Out of the 18 local governments area in the state, only Ondo East is yet to record any confirmed case.
