The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has placed all 774 local governments and six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory on partial lockdown.

The COVID-19 PANDEMIC is no longer news in our country. The global health calamity evidenced by the speedy penetration into Nigeria and given the present figures so far published by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), aptly calls for proactive strategy.
While ALGON acknowledges the vigour of both the Federal and States in combating the attendant spiralling spread, control , prevention and treatment for those already affected, we strongly emphasize continued advocacy across the strata due to poor awareness. It is imperative for ALL THE LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
IN NIGERIA to strictly adhere to the directives of the Federal and applicable State Governments.
To compliment the applaudable dexterity, commitments and professional strides of the Federal & States’ Health Ministries, ALL LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCILS are hereby advised and directed to be engaged in partial lockdown of Local Government Services while the program “for working from home” are being worked out.
ALL Local Government Councils are hereby further advised and directed to make available SANITIZERS for distribution to the people in general.
In conclusion, we enjoin all Nigerians to stay healthy as the price for disobedience is high.
Thank you..
