Army Colonel crushed dead in freak ‘Beer Palour’ accident

A Nigerian Army Colonel has been crushed dead by a moving car in a freak accident at a beer drinking joint in Makurdi, Benue, Nigeria’s north central.

The accident which happened on Tuesday took place as Colonel Abraham Gbileve and his friends were having some drinks at the popular beer parlour located opposite the state secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

An eye withness who described the accident as avoidable, told KaftanPost that a friend to the Army officer whom he had invited to join him and others at the venue for few drinks had put his Toyota Camry car in reverse while trying to leave the place when the car brakes failed and he ran into the Colonel and another friend where they were seated.

The impact, it was gathered crushed the officer, who was on a pass from his base at the Military Command and Staff College, Jaji Kaduna, to attend to a family issue in Makurdi.

Until his unfortunate demise, Colonel Gbileve was a serving Military Officer with the Command and Staff College, Jaji.

The lifeless bodies of the deceased where evacuated from the scene of the accident by a team of the Federal Road Safety Corp on patrol in the area and deposited in a mortuary in Markudi.
