Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, aka Baba Ijesha, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison over child molestation, is begging for a reduction of prison time.

The embattled actor who was in court yesterday had pleaded that his sentence be reduced.

He was convicted of four out of a six-count charge by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo in July.

In court hours ago, Baba Ijesha, had asked the Ikeja Domestic and Sexual Violence Court to grant a post-conviction bail pending hearing and determination of his appeal before the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.

His attorney, Chukwudi Adiukwu, had filed a bail application on behalf of his client.

Chukwudi informed the court they have filed an application for bail pending appeal, pursuant to Section 6 (6) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.⁣

He argued that section 51 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, Lagos State 2015, allows the court to grant his client the bail, either unconditionally or upon reasonable conditions.⁣

Court adjourned till next week.
