Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, aka Baba Ijesha, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison over child molestation, is begging for a reduction of prison time.
The embattled actor who was in court yesterday had pleaded that his sentence be reduced.
He was convicted of four out of a six-count charge by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo in July.
In court hours ago, Baba Ijesha, had asked the Ikeja Domestic and Sexual Violence Court to grant a post-conviction bail pending hearing and determination of his appeal before the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.
His attorney, Chukwudi Adiukwu, had filed a bail application on behalf of his client.
Chukwudi informed the court they have filed an application for bail pending appeal, pursuant to Section 6 (6) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
He argued that section 51 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, Lagos State 2015, allows the court to grant his client the bail, either unconditionally or upon reasonable conditions.
Court adjourned till next week.
