Actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, professionally known as Baba Ijesha, will be arraigned at the Magistrate Court 1, Yaba, today June 16, 2021.
The actor who was arrested and detained for an alleged rape case of a 14-year-old girl under the care of colleague and friend, Comedienne Princess, was later granted bail after spending weeks in jail.
He was arrested after being caught in the act on April 22, 2021 and was detained in police custody for over three weeks due to an ongoing strike by the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
His legal representative, Adesina Ogunlana, wrote to the Lagos Commissioner of Police asking for the actor’s bail. He was granted bail on health grounds.
“Our client, Olanrewaju James Omiyinka popularly known as Baba Ijesha, who has been in detention for more than 30 days has been granted bail at the facility of his detention,” his legal rep. said.
His bail was granted by Chief Magistrate Oluwatoyin Oghre.
