The remains of veteran actor, Babatunde Omidina, also known as Baba Suwe, will be laid to rest today, Thursday, November 25, 2021.
The funeral rites are ongoing at his house in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
There was a disagreement between the Islamic clerics and the family of the late actor over the delay in the burial arrangements.
According to Islamic practices, the body has to be buried hours after the death of the deceased.
Well-wishers are gathered at his Ikorodu residence and the clerics have agreed to continue with the rites.
A cleric, when speaking with a news source expressed his disagreement over the use of casket since the Islamic practice doesn’t encourage it especially when the family wants to dance with the casket with the corpse still inside.
He said, “There are so many things that they are doing, that are un-Islamic, they put his body in a casket, some other well-wishers even said they want to take his body round, but the family has told us they won’t bury him with his body inside the casket.”
However, it is reported that the family have agreed to do that without the corpse in the casket.
The funeral rites are still ongoing.
