According to activist attorney Madubuachi Idam, Nigeria’s criminal justice system is being tried.
Idam was responding to Martins Vincent Otse, nicknamed VeryDarkMan, who had leaked recordings of crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.
In an audio clip made public by VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky admits to paying N15 million in bribes to members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in order to get his money laundering charges dropped.
Additionally, Bobrisky asserted that his godfather’s arrangement to remain in a lodge prevented him from serving out his six-month sentence in Kirikiri jail.
“The image of Nigeria is now on trial, the entire criminal justice administration in Nigeria is on trial,” Idam stated in reference to the tape leak.
According to Facebook activist Verydarkman, there is an audio clip circulating that implies certain prisoners are allowed to serve their time in prison in respectable apartments rather at the caretaker centers where they are required to be housed.

Without using Bobrisky or Verydarkman as scapegoats, this claim has to be taken seriously as a national security concern.
Bobrisky needs to be treated like a new bride, given protection and safety guarantees, and urged to publicly denounce and expose all those implicated in the claim in order to uncover the truth. If not, he will refute the accusations and the case will be dropped.
“We require information regarding the location of his incarceration, the number of charges against which he was supposed to stand trial, and the identity of the person who provided the funds to have some of his charges dropped.”
