The Supreme Court has affirmed Mr. Valentine Ozigbo as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the Anambra election.
This is after the Court of Appeal in Abuja declared him as the validly elected governorship candidate of the PDP.
In a judgment delivered by Justice Iyang Okoro and unanimously adopted by 4 other Justices of the Supreme Court, the appeal brought by Senator Ugochukwu Uba was dismissed.
Counsel for the appellant, Adewole Adebayo, Esq had urged the apex court to set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal on the basis that the authentic candidate of PDP is Uba.
However, Alex Ejesieme SAN urged the Supreme Court to dismiss Uba’s appeal on the basis that Uba did not participate in the primary election held at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka.
The election is scheduled for November 6, 2021.
