The Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke says the neutral stance of President Muhammadu Buhari aided his victory at the polls that brought him to power.
Adeleke made this claim on Friday to newsmen when he paid a visit to Buhari at the Presidential Villa Abuja for the first time.
The Governor said he would go down in history as a major beneficiary of the electoral act 2022 signed into law by the President in 2022.
In his words, ” I just saw our President, looking so well, looking so good and I am happy about that. Since my election, I feel like I should come and say hello to Mr. President and thank him for signing that Electoral Act because I benefited from it. That paved way for free and fair elections and the international community is applauding Nigeria, that Nigeria is set for democracy.
“So that is why I’m here today; to see him, thank him and wish him well in his remaining time in office.”
Adeleke contested the governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he defeated Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adeleke had secured 403,371 votes defeating Oyetola who garnered 375,027 votes.
