Burna Boy’s song ‘Ye’ certified Gold in US

Grammy winner, Burna Boy’s song ‘Ye’ has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The song ‘Ye’ was released on August 6, 2018 and has since gained prominence both locally and internationally. ‘Ye’ was from his sixth studio album, ‘Outside’.

The artiste’s mom and manager, Mrs Bose Ogulu, made the announcement on Twitter today, May 5, 2021.

She said, “Just took this door off its hinges, Outside is the best place to be. Ye certified Gold in the USA. Steady counting still.”

Burna Boy took to his own Twitter to write, “Still striving.”

The RIAA awards certification is based on the number of albums and singles sold through retail and other ancillary markets, which includes records, compact discs or tapes sold for 500,000 units.

Burna Boy joins the list of Nigerian artistes to be certified Gold in the US.

Recently, ‘If’ and ‘Fall’ by Davido, ‘Come closer’ by Wizkid have also been certified Gold in the US.

“Ye” won Song of the Year and Listener’s Choice at the 2019 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, and also won Song of the Year at the Headies 2019.
