The keenly contested Ondo gubernatorial primary election held at the Dome event center in Akure, the state capital, ended with Eyitayo Jegede, SAN emerging as the party flag bearer.

It was a tuff of votes between the incumbent Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, and Eyitayo Jegede who ultimately, defeated Ajayi with 888 votes. Agboola Ajayi however became the second runner up with a total of 657 votes cast.

After the collation and final votes counted, below is the complete result of the primary election as monitored by KaftanPost correspondents.

Agboola Ajayi: 657 Votes

Eddy Olafeso: 175 Votes

Bode Ayorinde: 95 Votes

Okunomo: 90 Votes

Boluwaji Kunlere: 33 Votes

Olusola Ebiseni: 29 Votes

Godday Erewa: 14 Votes

Eyitayo Jegede: 888 Votes

While speaking with some political observers within the state, many were of the opinion that it is very obvious that the October 10 gubernatorial election is now another game between two Senior Advocates of Nigeria; the sitting governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, and Jegede.

It would be recalled that the duo of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN and Eyitayo Jegede, SAN closely contested the gubernatorial seat in the 2016 gubernatorial elections in the state.

It is however very imminent that the political history of four years ago will definitely repeat itself come October 10 when the two legal professionals and political titans of the All Progressive People’s Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will battle for the number one seat in the sunshine state of Nigeria.
