The index COVID-19 case in Kwara State has been discharged after winning the battle with the virus.

Secretary, COVID-19 Offa  Local Government Technical Committee , Maruf Olalekan Ajenifuja, made this known in a statement on Thursday.

“The COVID-19 Offa Local Government Technical Committee wishes to officially inform you all that the first index case of COVID-19 in Kwara State has tested negative and hereby discharged immediately in the presence of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq,” he said.

The Middle Belt state of Kwara, on April 6, recorded its first two cases of the coronavirus, both in its second largest LGA, Offa.

Being the epicentre, Governor Abdulrasaq promptly directed its lockdown to curb spread to other parts.

However, this wasn’t to be as the swift virus found its way to two other persons.

As at Thursday, though, the state has only two active cases after two patients fully recovered.
