Fire Service promptly puts out INEC fire, official says no sensitive documents affected

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed a fire outbreak at its headquarters on Friday albeit without any serious damage.

A director with the electoral body, Oluwole Uzzi, disclosed this to KAFTANPost, while also confirming that officials of the resident fire service has long put out the inferno.

According to him, the incident occured at one of the offices in the annex building housing the Media Centre and not the main facility as being portrayed in the media.

Mr Uzzi, however, assured that only office equipments and a few non sensitive documents, mainly memos and correspondence were affected.

“There was a fire in one of the offices in the annex building housing the Media Centre but was quickly put out by the resident Fire Service Unit assisted by other units,” he said.

“Some office equipment and a few non sensitive documents, mainly memos and correspondence were affected. The the media centre wasn’t affected.”
