An Edo-based comedian, Chukwu Emeka, also known as Broda Mike, has been granted bail by a High Court in Benin, Edo state.
The comedian was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on June 14.
However, Emeka was granted bail Tuesday.
His lawyer, Matthew Osa-Oghogho, made the announcement on his Facebook account.
He wrote, “Today, the High Court of justice sitting in Benin released Comedian Emeka Chukwu Aka #BrotherMike to bail.
“He was arrested by the Department of State Services and accused of inciting the Public.
“The court agreed with our submission that the application for the remand of Mr. Chukwu is unmeritorious and therefore admitted him to bail. We stand for justice always and at all times!”
The comedian is best known for making skits to reprimand poor governance and insecurities.
