The embattled State Executive committee (SEC) members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ebonyi State, led by Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi, Saturday, dumped the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Nwebonyi alongside 13 local government area chairmen of the state and 171 ward chairmen of PDP defected to APC.
Their defection took place at the Pa Oruta township stadium, Abakaliki, the state capital.
In a communique titled: “Resignation of State, Local Government and Ward Executives of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following dissatisfaction with the National and South East zonal leadership of the PDP”, Nwebonyi cited marginalisation of the Southeast zone, violation of the ruling of the Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki, which recognised the elected state executive and their inability to work with the present leadership of the party at the zone as some of the reasons behind the defection.
