The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Abdullahi Adamu, says the victory of Biodun Oyebanji in Saturday’s election is a proof of the party’s popularity.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Muhammad Nata’ala Keffi, in Abuja on Sunday, Adamu added that the election was also a test of Oyebanji’s character.

In his words, “The victory was the result of the popularity of Oyebanji’s candidature as well as the strong campaign strategies put in place by the APC.

“He has the pedigree, experience and vision to take Ekiti State to the next level of development.”

Adamu also thanked the people of Ekiti State for reposing their confidence in the party and Oyebanji.

This is even as he pledged that the new governor will continue to implement the people oriented programmes of the Party as already started by the outgoing governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

“In this first election to be held after he became National Chairman, the victory recorded at the election was a precursor to expected victories of the APC at the Osun election later this year and at the 2023 general elections,” he noted.

Oyebanji, who is the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, won in 15 out of the 16 Local Government Areas of the state. He polled 187,057 votes.

His closest challenger, Segun Oni, of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), scored 82,211 votes while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bisi Kolawole, scored 67,457 votes.
