The embattled Ondo State deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, has officially announced his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ajayi Posted his resignation letter addressed to the APC Chairman in his ward on Twitter, through his media aide, Allen Sowore.

It would be recalled that Ajayi had been at loggerheads with his boss and Governor of the state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, in recent times, leading to speculations that he would defect to the opposition – PDP.

His defection is also coming at the wake of an altercation with the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bolaji Salami, who detained him for four hours when he purportedly attempted to leave the government house with his properties in company of some of his aides on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, the PDP on its official Facebook page, also announced this afternoon that Agboola has joined the party.

Ajayi is believed to be nursing the ambition to contest against Akeredolu in the October governorship election.

Kaftan Post however learnt that he is expected to make an open declaration on Monday, with some of his core loyalists and political associates, including some members of the state house of Assembly.
