Grammy award winner, Tems, has reacted to a music critic who claimed she stated that she couldn’t connect to Afrobeat because it lacks spirituality.
Recall that the singer who was recently in an interview with rapper Kendrick Lamar, said she found it hard to connect to Afrobeat at the beginning because she had been discouraged over her type of songs.
She said people had often said her type of songs are not for Nigerians.
The critic on Twitter with the handle @musicbaseafrica said, “When I listen to Nigerian music, it sounded so plain and basic, and there was nothing spiritual about it that I could connect to,’ —Tems tells Kendrick Lamar in a recent interview on Intertwine.”
In reaction to the post, Tems debunked the claims, she said people are trying to push a certain narrative about her.
Tems in the comment section wrote, “FAKE NEWS!!!! Y’all are smelling fr, agenda must agenda Eyama!!”
