Those who witnessed them jogging within the estate, would have whispered in envy and admiration, about the ‘beautiful’ couple and prayed to have such a blissful marriage. Little did they know that the next day, on Father’s Day, the man would murder his wife and kill himself.
That was the story of the man who stabbed his wife to death and thereafter, committed suicide by drinking sniper in Lekki.
Reported to have happened on Sunday 21st June, which was Father’s Day, in Victory Park estate, Lekki, Lagos State, the man identified as Femi, reportedly stabbed his wife to death and then drank two bottles of sniper and died.
Residents of the said Estate, close to the scene of the crime, disclosed the couple only moved into the estate three weeks ago with their two little kids.
According to the residents, who said that they didn’t know much about the couple since they just moved in, the couple were seen jogging on Saturday 20th June, a day before the incident.
Insiders, who are aware of the story of the young couple, also alleged that the husband had always questioned the paternity of their second child.
Apparently, Femi had been planning the Sunday murder of his wife, Olamide, for sometime before the fateful day as he was said to have tricked his sister-in-Law to take the children out of the house and turned up the volume of the music in his apartment so loud it attracted neighbours who felt uncomfortable with the noise of the music coming from the flat.
Disturbed by the unceasing and unbearable noise, the neighbours went to report to the estate authorities who came to the house to caution them.
The neighbour said that when they got there, they met the wife’s sister with the two kids downstairs and told her about the music. The sister of the wife quickly ran upstairs to call the attention of the couple to the complaints the estate authorities are making, but discovered that the doors were locked.
Having knocked and waited in vain for the couple, who they believed were probably having a ball, alone, perhaps in celebration of Father’s Day, the estate authorities and the wife’s sister decided to break into the house and what they saw was horrible.
To their shock, they discovered that the woman was tied down with cuts all over her body, as different knifes were left on the floor. Having tied her hands, to prevent her from resisting his sinister attack, Femi proceeded to shave her head, with a clipper, increased the volume of the radio to avoid her cry from being heard by neighbours before stabbing her to death.
The site that greeted neighbours who broke the door to gain entrance into the apartment by force, were two lifeless bodies. Femi had stabbed her head, her eyes and her body multiple times, while he had left the two bottles of snipper, as evidence of his suicide. “The scene was just like a horror movie,” the neighbour said.
Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Bala Elkana who confirmed the incident, said homicide detectives have already sealed up the scene. According to Elkana also said that investigation has started and the corpse of the deceased have been moved to a hospital for an autopsy.
The Lagos State Police Command PPRO, affirmed that two knives and two bottles of Sniper were found at the scene of the incident, adding that the woman had several injuries from stabbing while foams slowly poured from the husband’s mouth.
