Respite might have come the way of  striking members of the academic staff of the nation’s Universities under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as the Federal Government (FG) on Tuesday announced the withdrawal of  the ‘No-work- pay’ circular earlier sent to Vice- Chancellors and Directors of Inter-varsity centers on the implementation of no-work-no pay on the striking teachers.

A letter signed by Dr. Ramon-Yusuf, Director, Research, Innovation and Technology, of the National Universities Commission (NUC), ordered stay of action on the implementation of no-work-no pay rule pending further directives.

It would be recalled that the NUC had in a letter dated 29th November directed Vice Chancellors and Directors of Inter varsity centers to implement no-work-no-pay rule on the striking university lecturers.
