The Hijab crisis which pitched some aggrieved Muslim parents against  authorities of the 55 year-old International School, Ibadan (ISI) a couple of weeks ago has been taken to court for adjudication.

It would be recalled that the crisis forced the school’s management to close down the school on two different occasions with the last closure lasting for one week when the aggrieved Muslim parents remained adamant insisting that their female children must be allowed to put on hijab, contrary to the school’s rules and regulations, a position which the management was not ready to compromise.

On Tuesday, however, the school authority   confirmed receipt of court summons over the issue, a development confirmed by the Chairman, Board of Governors of the school, Professor Abideen Adeyinka Aderinto in Ibadan.

Based on this development, Prof. Aderinto disclosed that he would make no further comment on the matter since the case is now in Court.

Prof. Aderinto who doubles as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) University of Ibadan maintained that the ISI is a law abiding institution and believes in the judiciary in resolving issues.

About eight Muslim parents had dragged ISI before the State high court sitting in Ibadan on Monday for the enforcement of the right of their female children to wear hijab in ISI which the school maintained is against her dress code.

The case has been slated for mention on December 21 before Justice Ladiran Akintola.
