The federal government has banned about 100 Nigerians from international travel for breaching the COVID-19 protocols.

The passport numbers of the 100 defaulters that refused to adhere to the obligation to test seven days after arrival in Nigeria from overseas travel have been published as threatened by the government.

The post-arrival test is expected to be done at the end of the mandatory 7-day self-isolation/quarantine.

The special assistant to President Buhari on digital and new media, Tolu Ogunlesi, had given this hint in a tweet on Thursday, December 24.

According to the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, the 100 affected persons have been contacted and confirmed that they failed to do the post-arrival test.

In a release on Friday, where the passport numbers of the defaulters were published, the PTF said “Based on Presidential authority, travel restrictions are being placed on the following passports due to non-compliance to the mandatory Day 7 post-arrival COVID-19 PCR test.”

However, it was noted that the 100 defaulters will face travel restrictions for six months, starting from January 1st to June 30th, 2021.

The Federal Government has already put in place strict measures to control the spread of the virus in this second wave that has greeted the world.

Meanwhile, the FG has said it is not in a rush to ban flights from UK and South Africa after promising to be very stringent in the monitoring of inbound direct flights from the two countries.
