The family of veteran saxophonist, Femi Kuti, have showered love on the legend as he clocks 60 today, June 16, 2022.
His ex-wife, sister, son and brother have each taken turns to wish Femi a happy birthday.
His ex-wife, Funke Kuti, took to her social media to eulogise Femi. She posted a picture of herself with Femi Kuti and Made, their son.
She thanked him for taking good care of their son. She wrote, “And just like that, you are 60!!!!! You don old o! Happy Birthday, Baba Mádé @femiakuti
“Thank you for all you do. You are such an amazing man and father. Thank you for loving our son unconditionally. May God continue to Bless and Favour you now and always.”
Femi’s son, Made, took to his Instagram page to share several pictures of his dad and himself. He said his father has refused to have a 60th birthday shoot.
He wrote, “Happy 60th Birthday to the man I owe everything @femiakuti!You’re the only person that will refuse to do a birthday shoot for his 60th. The man who ALWAYS puts his family first.”
Femi’s sister, Yeni Kuti, has celebrated her younger brother, she welcomed him to the 60s. She wrote, “Happy birthday Ambassadorial welcome to 60. Femi Kuti at 60, we are happy for you, we are sad that you’re not here but you’ll come back and meet us here at that party you must do it for us.
“Happy birthday enjoy your tour, congratulations, and welcome to the land of the elderly.
“Happy birthday to my brother! @femiakuti Welcome to the 60s. I wish you all the best today and always. I will be posting more pictures later. It’s not easy to be 60 o!!”
The celebrant’s brother, Seun Kuti, also took to his page to celebrate his brother’s birthday. He penned a beautiful message for his brother.
He wrote: “60hearty cheers to the King. Words escape me on this great day because the joy inside of me can’t be expressed in words alone.
“Your dedication to your craft and your leadership has been of immense value to your family and the world at large. We celebrate the one true king @femiakuti on this most joyous of days. Arararara!!!!”
Yeni Kuti’s partner, Theo Lawson, also celebrated Femi in an Instagram post.
“Femi Kuti@60. Let’s celebrate a Creative, Activist, Father, Mentor, Friend, In-law and Legend. May 60 bring joy, blessings, peace and liberation.”
The celebrant is currently on tour abroad. His last post on his Instagram page showed him having fun on stage with his fans. His comment section is filled with birthday wishes.
