Ghanaian actress, Rosemond Brown, professionally known as Akuapem Poloo, has been sentenced to 90 days in prison by an Accra Circuit Court over the publication of obscene material and domestic violence.

Recall that the actress had posted a naked picture of herself and her seven-year-old son last year, June 2020, on her Instagram account and she was rebuked for that.

Poloo has since deleted the picture after the backlash. She also made a video to apologize for her misconduct. However, it was too late, she got more than she bargained for as actions were taken against her.

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, in a press statement signed by Minister Cynthia Mamle Morrison, said: “The Ministry highly condemns this act which is classified as indecent exposure of the child, an act of pornography, degrading and also against the Children’s Act, 1998 (Act 560) and the Criminal and Other Offences Act, (Act 30).”

The statement continued that the ministry was liaising with the appropriate agencies to deal with the issue. It further cautioned against posting or sharing nude pictures on social networks stressing that it “is a serious offence and all must desist from the act.”

Poloo was charged to court two days ago, Wednesday, April 14, 2021.

The actress who had prayed for a lesser sentence when she got sentenced to three months but it was all to no avail.

“Mummy please, Mummy, I beg you, Mummy please,” she reportedly said to the judge.

Poloo pleaded guilty to three counts of publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence, namely a conduct that in any way undermined another person’s privacy or integrity, and engaging in domestic violence namely conduct that in any way detracted or was likely to detract from another person’s dignity and worth as a human being.
