Things are no longer at ease within the ranks and files of the two major political parties in Ondo State, Peoples Democratic party PDP and the All Progressives Congress APC, over the right candidates to be presented for the position of House of Representative member for Akure North/ South constituency after the demise of Hon. Adedayo Omolafe (Expensive) who died recently.

The former legislator who died was from the PDP, and served his people meritoriously beyond expectations within the first two years in office.

Adedayo Omolafe was known to be a friend to all politicians across party boards and seen to be second to none.

However, the Chieftains of the party are working on different parameters over who should be given the ticket and complete the last two years of the late Adedayo Omolafe, who just concluded two years in office before his death.

The leaders of the party from the zone are all looking for the ways by which their preferred candidates could be given the party flag to fly.

Those who have shown interest in PDP for the race are: Princess Kemi Adesanya, who has served her people two times consecutively as member of the state House of Assembly between 2009 – 2017. Mr Dayo Aude and Babatunde Faro are also showing interest.

Meanwhile, the expectation of the people of the state has been that the widow of the former legislator, Mrs Taiwo Omolafe, would be picked, which even the speaker House of Representative, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, would have preferred according to a reliable source from the National Assembly.

But some of the chieftains of PDP in the state, are strongly against the choice of the wife of the late Adedayo. Parts of the reasons were that, she has never been a card carrying member of the party and that she is not a financial member.

Now, Clement Faboyede, the former PDP party Chairman in the state, and other Chieftains like the former Deputy Gov. in the state, Omolade Oluwateru are strongly behind Princess Kemisola Adesanya, except Hon Afolabi Akinbowale and Eyitayo Jegede SAN.

From the camp of APC, no fewer than six candidates are also justling for the position include: Hon. Sunday Abegunde, Abena who has served two times also as Reps member and as well, an elder brother to the late Adedayo, also a preferred candidate of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has been presented to the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, for endorsement, which from all indications, may likely favour him for the good job done by Asiwaju recently for Akeredolu.

Hon. Mrs Omowunmi Ohwovoriole is another person, who is being assisted by Gov Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State to get the ticket.

Femi Fadairo Dennis, a young and vibrant politician, who is currently an aide to the Senate President of the Federal Republic and currently enjoying the support of the party Chairman in the state, Engr Ade Adetimehin, and Senator Ajayi Borroffice to run for the post.

With all these, there is going to be a clash among the titans from the parties if care is not taking into consideration from the party leaders.
