Three first-class monarchs in Lagos State have reportedly contracted the coronavirus, throwing their palaces and kingdoms into panic.
They include Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, Oba Saheed Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom and Oba Kabiru Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu.
Oba Akiolu, 76, the Chairman Lagos State Council of Obas is said to be receiving treatment at his palace.
Elegushi, 44, too is believed to be isolating at his own palace.
However, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, reported to be diabetic is reportedly on Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Suspicion is that they all acquired the virus at the installation of the new Oniru, His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Abdul Wasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, (Abisogun II), which was held on Sunday, June 7.
The coronavirus has continued to take its toll on Nigeria with Lagos, receiving the worst hit.
The country’s epicentre accounts for 11,827 positive cases, over one-third of the total 30,748.
And some prominent Lagosians have contracted and even succumbed to the contagion.
Chiefly among them, Lagos East Senator, Adebayo Osinowo Odekunle, ex-General Manager of the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), Chief Jide Odekunle and lawmaker, Tunde Braimoh didn’t recover from the coronavirus.
