THE presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has revealed that he has “three Igbo children”.

The former Vice President said that voting for him in 2023 will pave the way for the south-east to succeed him.

Atiku spoke today in Enugu State while addressing Southeast PDP stakeholders,

“I am the stepping stone for Igbos to become President of Nigeria,” the PDP candidate declared.

“I’ve had close relationship with the Igbos and this influenced my choices of Senator Ben Obi and Mr. Peter Obi as my running mates in my two previous outings as presidential candidate. Again, I have chosen another great Igbo here (Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa) for the third time as my running mate.

“I have three Igbo children and I am saying this for the very first time in public. So, my relationship with Ndigbo did not start today,” Atiku added.

Atiku argued that the second Niger Bridge being constructed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Muhammadu Buhari is not a special favour for the Igbos and the entire southeast.

He stated that the bridge is not an exclusive need of the region but the entire country, promising that if elected, he would prioritize special projects meant specifically for the region.

“The second Niger bridge in Onitsha is not a favour to the Southeast, rather it is or should be seen as a favour to Nigeria. This is because it is not only the people of the Southeast that use the bridge,” Atiku said.

The PDP candidate called on the leaders of the southeast to speak against the sit-at-home declaration of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) which he said has put the economy of the region in jeopardy.

Atiku vowed to pay close attention to tackling insecurity if elected into power in 2023.
