The People Democratic Party Lagos governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran, has stated that he selected Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, and not the comic and scandalous character she played in movies.
Olajide also known as Jandor, in a recent interview on The Morning Show, said he picked Funke because she is capable as a Lagosian who is also a brilliant entrepreneur.
Jandor went ahead to slam parties who are criticising his decision to use Funke as his running mate. He said the party also chose a Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot, and his ability was not questioned.
According to Jandor, the movie industry is made up of a conspiracy of silence.
He said, “I have not picked that character called Suliyat, I’ve not been that character called Jenifa. I’ve picked Funke Akindele who is an entrepreneur, who is a Lagosian, who has been able to grow her business from zero to the success it is today, who understands what it takes to put heads together.
“Even the ruling party calling us unserious because I picked somebody in that industry, once gave their ticket to Desmond Elliot in the same industry.
“But the main problem is the conspiracy of silence in the Nollywood industry.”
