A former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has denied reports that he is returning to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former governor joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2018 from the APC and there are claims that he is planning to return.

In an interview on Tuesday, a media aide to the former governor, Saifullahi Hassan, denied reports, stating that the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement is not mulling the idea of floating a new political party to challenge PDP and APC for power in 2023.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Rural Development, Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, said the APC in the state does not have anything against anyone joining the ruling party.

He noted that the APC would welcome the former governor back to the party so far he is ready to submit to the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Kwankwaso said that, as declared by the APC national caretaker chairman, Mai Mala Buni in Cross River and Zamfara states, the leadership of the party in any state rests on the governor of the state.

“If he wants to come to APC, let him withdraw his red cap to come under Ganduje,” he said.
