American rapper, Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown, also known as Swaa Lee, has declared that he is partly Nigerian.

In a viral tweet on Tuesday, the rapper revealed that he would be dropping a song with Amapiano beats. However, he had added a Nigerian flag to the tweet.

According to him, he added the Nigerian flag because he is partly Nigerian.

He wrote, “Wait till y’all hear Swae Lee on Amapiano.”

This had infuriated South Africans who stated that the rapper is discrediting their sound.

In a response, Swaa Lee said he is partly Nigeria hence the flag. In another tweet, he apologised to the South Africans for the misunderstanding, he proceeded to add their flag alongside the Nigerian flag.

His tweets read, “For the ones outraged about the flag, I put it because I’m partly Nigerian. I didn’t say anything about the creation of the genre y’all tweaking.

“Bigs up to the South Africans for creating this beautiful sh*t.”
