Okiki
Top Egyptian club, Ismaily Football Club have officially terminated the contract of Nigerian striker Okiki Afolabi after just six games with the club.
The 24-year-old who once featured for Nigeria Professional Football League teams, Shooting Stars and Sunshine Stars joined the club last July from Ethiopian side Jimma Aba Jifar, where he finished as the league’s top scorer with 23 goals and helped them win the league title.
It didn’t quite work out for Afolabi in Egypt, as he managed to make only six appearances for the Ismailia-based club, providing only one assist.
He struggled to nail down a place in the Ismaily squad, starting just two games as Ismaily currently sit bottom of the Egyptian Premier League table.
Ismaily have announced that they have reached an agreement with Afolabi to terminate the player’s contract on mutual consent with immediate effect.
This comes just hours after the departure of first-team manager Jorvan Vieira, who resigned following the team’s exit from the Arab Club Championship.
Ismaily are currently preparing for their clash with Cameroon’s Coton Sport in the Round of 32 of the CAF Champions League next Saturday.
