Iyaloja-General of Ondo State, ‘Madam do good’, is dead

Chief Mrs. Ruth Olowokere, popularly known as “Madam Do Good”, is dead. The late business tycoon, known for many years of her enterprise in Ondo State, was until her death, the Iyaloja general of Ondo State.

She died in Akure, her place of residence, on Sunday July 26, 2020 at the age of 70.

Olowokere, whose death was announced on Sunday July 26, was a business tycoon in Akure, the Ondo State capital, with a huge recognition within the state where she lives.

For more than two decades, ‘Madam Do Good’ as fondly called consistently evolved as a formidable enterprising woman with diverse chains of businesses.

A statement signed by Mr. Kunle Ajibogun, on behalf of the family as obtained by KaftanPost, says she died after a brief illness.

“This is to inform the good people of Ondo State and Nigerians in general that we have lost a rare gem, the Iyaloja-General of Ondo State, Chief Mrs Ruth Olowookere A.K.A Madam Do Good,” the statement stated.

Contrary to speculations as regards her demise, the family of the late popular business woman however debunked rumours that she died of the dreaded Covid-19.
“However, her death is not in any way connected with the COVID-19 pandemic,” It said.

The statement concluded, “Our family is deeply saddened to inform you of the call to eternal home of our beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, Chief Mrs. Ruth Olowookere.
“May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. (Amen).”

Mourners across the state and beyond, not excluding her family members and close business associates have described her death as a painful loss.
It can be recalled that the deceased was a strong rallying force within the commercial circle of Akure where she had lived for a long time before her demise. She wielded so much influence including the religious and social circle where she was an active member.

Part from the accolades she received while alive was her unique penchant for philanthropic gestures.

According to one of her local church members named Adeola, who confided in KaftanPost correspondent, “Madam Do Good” was not only industrious but was such a generous woman that her good deeds earned her the appellation, ‘Madam Do Good’, which became her renowned address till her last minute on earth.

“No doubt, she will be deeply missed by all and sundry,” he noted.
