The youngest ever Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has expressed her ‘joy and gratitude’ after completing her Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) degree at Oxford University.
The inspirational 22-year-old shared a picture of herself covered in cake as she celebrated her latest achievement with her family.
She said she didn’t know what was in store next in a social media post about plans for the future.
She wrote: ‘Hard to express my joy and gratitude right now as I completed my Philosophy, Politics and Economics degree at Oxford. I don’t know what’s ahead. For now, it will be Netflix, reading and sleep’.
Malala rose to worldwide fame for standing up for the cause of women’s education as a teenager.
In 2012, she survived being shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan for campaigning for girls to be allowed to go to school.
She was transferred to a hospital in Birmingham where she recovered before setting up a life in the UK.
The 22-year-old has grown into a global symbol of the resilience of women in the face of oppression, co-authoring a book ‘I am Malala’ and becoming the youngest ever winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for her advocacy of education, aged just 17.
