The wife of late Mohbad, Omawumi, has shared her side of the story leading to the death of her husband.

During the coroner’s inquest, Omawumi who has been mute since the death stated that her husband had already passed before he was transported to the hospital.

She said her husband had gotten injured from a scuffle that occurred between his friend and himself a day before his death. She went further to reveal that a nurse was called to attend to him since he insisted on not going to the hospital.

In a statement given, she disclosed that her husband had begun experiencing discomfort after receiving a tetanus injection administered by a nurse.

She said her husband had complained about the injection while the nurse was injecting him. She said the nurse had ignored his pleas and he had vomited after the injection had been administered around 1pm the day he died.

Going further, Omawumi had stated that the fight between the friend, PrimeBoy and Mohbad had occurred on Sunday, September 10, in Ikorodu, at an event where Mohbad had performed. She said Mohbad had become frustrated because he was being delayed for two hours while trying to leave the venue.

On that day, they encountered a massive crowd of fans making it difficult for them to leave. Mohbad asked Prime Boy to inform his younger brother, Adura Aloba, to speak with the bouncer and arrange their departure.

However, they were asked to wait until other artists had finished their performances,
She went on to state that Prime Boy had complained that Mohbad’s brother had been rude to him, but Mohbad refrained from publicly scolding his brother.

Omawumi said she was in between the scuffle and disagreement but when it had escalated, she had gone to look for help so they can intervene to put an end to the fight.

Omawumi said that Mohbad had complained about the injury the next day but had refused to go to the hospital for reasons best known to him. She said she had applied an ointment to the sides of the injury because it had been a deep cut.

According to her, when Mohbad was vomiting and looking pale, she had ran frantically trying to look for a vehicle to convey him to the hospital because their car had been faulty.

She said she had sought help from a neighbour who agreed to take him to the hospital. On their way, the driver had touched his body and it was cold. She said they had met with a traffic jam on their way to the hospital.

Their desperation had led them to hail a bike to convey him to the hospital. When they got there, she was prevented from gaining entrance into the hospital and the news of his passing was revealed to her moments after. She said she was in disbelief so she called her husband’s cousin, Darosha, and the cousin took him to another hospital where it was confirmed that he had died.

Omawumi also spoke on the relationship with her father-in-law. She said she used to have a wonderful relationship with the father until after Liam was born. She said the father-in-law had insisted that the boy’s naming ceremony be done in Ikorodu and Mohbad had refused. She said the man had believed that the wife was behind his refusal and had stopped communicating with her since then.
