Controversial Nigerian singer, Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, is still on the run after an arrest warrant issued over his presence at a party organised by Nollywood star, Funke Akindele.

Marley, the self-acclaimed President of his cult-like fan base, known as ‘Marlians’, was among high-profile guests at Akindele’s birthday party organised for her husband on Saturday in Lagos.

After arresting Akindele for flouting the lockdown orders in the state, the Police advised others present at the event to turn themselves in.

“Funke Akindele was arrested. Investigation is ongoing, efforts are intensified to arrest the remaining persons in the video, among whom are Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley and Abdul Rasheed Bello a.k.a. JJC Skillz,” the Police said on Sunday evening.

“They are in their best interests urged to report at the State CID Yaba on Monday 6th April, 2020 or risk being declared wanted.”

While Mrs Bello and Lagos politician, Babatunde Gbadamosi has since apologised, the usually vocal Marley has suddenly gone mute.

Mr Fashola is yet to issue any statement, an apology or submit himself to the police.

This isn’t the first time Marley courted controversy, though.

The singer has a pending case in court over alleged fraud and theft.

Recall that in November, Marley set social media agog when he tweeted that a lady with a big butt was better than one with a Master’s degree.

Few days later, the lewd singer alongside his siblings and cousins landed into another trouble after they were accused of stealing a car.

Meanwhile Akindele will be prosecuted by the Lagos State Government.

The 42-year-old will appear before the Ogba Magistrate Court 1 at 11 a.m. on Monday and the prosecuting team will be from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
