The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Thursday night, confirmed 481 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing the total number of infections to 42,689.
Ten deaths were recorded from the virus bringing the total number of confirmed fatalities from COVID-19 to 878.
According to the NCDC, out of a total 42,689 infected persons so far, 19,270 have recovered and have been discharged after treatment in the country’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
For the first time in nearly two months, FCT topped the list states with new COVID-19 cases in Nigeria.
According to the NCDC, out of 481 confirmed new cases on Thursday, the FCT recorded the most cases with 96 cases, followed by Lagos with 89.
It would be recalled that the FCT currently has the second highest number of cases in the country with a total of 3,710 people confirmed positive for the virus, out of which 1,118 have been discharged, while 42 fatalities have been recorded.
Other states where new infections were recorded are Plateau (68), Ogun (49), Edo (44), Rivers (43), Oyo (25), Osun (23), Delta (15), Enugu (11), Kano (7), Kaduna (7), Bauchi (2), Bayelsa (1), Yobe (1), the NCDC said.
