The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has apologized to Nigerians following the disappointing performances of both the Under-23 Men’s National Team (Olympic Eagles) and the Senior Men’s National Team (Super Eagles) in crucial international matches this week.

The Super Eagles suffered a defeat o Guinea Bissau’s Djurtus in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, while the U-23 team failed to beat Guinea in a first leg, final qualifying fixture for the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.

NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, expressed disappointment in the below-par outings.

According to him, the Federation was committed to working hard to ensure both teams turn their qualifying games around in a positive way.

Gusau therefore offered an “unreserved apology” to Nigerians for the poor results and affirmed the Federation’s focus on redeeming the situation in the return matches early next week.

He therefore expressed confidence that the U-23s will qualify for the AFCON in their return match against Guinea, on Tuesday, and that the Super Eagles will emerge victorious against Guinea Bissau on Monday, to return to the top of their qualifying group for the 2023 AFCON.
