The Nigeria Football Federation has named Gbenga Elegbeleye as the chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) board

The governing body constituted the board of the NPFL and returned Elegbeleye as Chairman, after his stint as head of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), which replaced the League Management Company last year and oversaw the abridged campaign.

This therefore means that the IMC, which was in place last season no longer exists.

“Elegbeleye, a former deputy chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Youth and Sports, and also a former Director-General of the National Sports Commission, headed the IMC that brilliantly executed the last NPFL season and and the Super 6, drawing high praise from the NFF and stakeholders in general,” the NFF said in a press release.

With Elegbeleye on the new NPFL board are Mohammed Nasiru Sa’idu (member), Poubeni Ogun (member), former Super Eagles striker Daniel Amokachi (member), Dr. Okey Kpalukwu (member), Suleiman Umar (member) and Dominic Iorfa (member), another former football star.

The Secretary/Legal Adviser is Danlami Ibrahim while the Chief Operating Officer is former Rangers star and administrator Davidson Owumi.

The NFF says the new NPFL board has a two-year tenure, same as the boards of the Nigeria National League, the Nigeria Women’s Football League and the Nigeria Nationwide League One that were inaugurated on Monday.
