No fatality as Nigeria records 120 new coronavirus cases

Nigeria, on Tuesday, recorded 120 fresh coronavirus cases.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the new infections was recorded in seven states and the nation’s capital.

Enugu led the way with 53, followed by Lagos (22), Rivers (18), Ogun (8), FCT  (7), Abia (6), Kano (5) and Bauchi (1).

In an update on Twitter, the agency confirmed that the country’s Covid-19 cases has reached 164,423.

A breakdown of the cases shows Lagos remains the epicentre with 58,168 infections followed by the Federal Capital Territory (19,754), Plateau (9,046), Kaduna (9,030) and Rivers (7,067).

However, no fatality was recorded in the last 24 hours as deaths from the pandemic remained at 2,061.

Twenty-two persons, meanwhile, were discharged, the NCDC also announced, taking the tally of recovered patients to 154,496.

Globally, there have been over 141 million cases, more than 80 million recoveries and just a little above 30 million casualties.

The United States still leads the way with nearly 32 million cases, followed by India and Brazil with over 30 million infections combined.
