No fatality as Nigeria records 51 new Covid-19 cases, 44 discharged

Nigeria, on Saturday, recorded 51 new coronavirus infections.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) which announced this via Twitter, confirmed the country’s total cases as 164, 684.

According to the agency, the fresh cases was recorded in five states and the Federal Capital Territory.

A breakdown shows Yobe with 19 cases followed by Lagos (17), Rivers (8), FCT (4), Akwa Ibom (2) and Bayelsa (1).

The NCDC also revealed that 44 patients were discharged, taking the total recoveries to 154,687.

However, no fatality was recorded, according to the data released.

Meanwhile, glogbally there has been over 146 million cases, nearly 84 million recoveries and about 3.10 million deaths.

Although the United States of America is the epicentre with over 32 million infections, India is recording a frightening surge in the last one month.

The Asian nation on Sunday registered a new world record for daily infections for the fourth day in a row, placing more strain on its crisis-hit hospitals.

It recorded a further 349,691 cases, bringing the total to almost 17 million since the pandemic began
