Actress Rosemond Brown, also known as Akuapem Poloo, who was recently sentenced to a three-month-sentence has been granted ¢80,000 bail by an Accra High Court.

The court granted her bail on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 days after her initial sentence.

She was made to appear with two sureties and to report to the case investigator every two weeks.

She will be expected to deposit her passport with the registrar of the court.

The Judge, Ruby Aryeetey, said she will only be allowed to travel with the express permission of the court.

However, the state representatives were present, there was no opposition whatsoever when the bail was granted.

The state rep. was represented by Senior State Attorney Selasie Kuwornu as, acording to him, the State had no control over the length of the appeal which could travel beyond the 90 days jail sentence.

Poloo’s lawyer had filed a motion to appeal the 90-day jail sentence. He also filed a motion for bail pending appeal.

Akuapem was sentenced for taking a naked picture with her seven-year-old son and posting it online.

Some celebrities also stated the three-month was too much as at the time the sentence was given to Poloo.

Ace actress and philanthropist, Tonto Dikeh, on her Instagram page claimed parenting is different with individuals.

She posted the petition on her page, advocating for people to sign. She said, “One thing they always say is no one can tell a mother how to raise her child.”

American rapper, Cardi B, also reacted to the sentencing, she referred the jail term as ‘harsh’.

On Twitter, the rapper said, “I think jail is a bit harsh maybe social media probation or community service.”
