The Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu-led administration has executed 787 projects across four local government areas of Ondo State.

Mr Emmanuel Igbasan, the Ondo State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, on Friday said this at a consultative meeting in Ondo town on Friday.

He said that the projects were implemented in: Odigbo, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo, Ondo West and Ondo East Local Government Areas of the state.

He also said that the meeting was in preparation for the year 2020 budget and the presentation of 2020-2022 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).

Igbasan, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Bunmi Alade, said that projects executed include: road construction and rehabilitation, reconstruction and rehabilitation of of non-functional boreholes.

According to Igbasan, others are the construction of public primary schools, purchase and supply of ICT equipment, containerised bay toilets, and the construction of open market, civic centres and health facilities.

The commissioner said that 302 projects were executed in Odigbo, 232 in Ile-Oluji /Okeigbo, 89 in Ondo West and 164 projects in Ondo East.

According to him, Gov. Akeredolu has laid a solid foundation for sustainable development under the 2018 budget, while 2019 budget would build on the modest achievements of the 2018 budget.

He added that the 2020 budget would focus on projects that would further impact positively and transform the lives of the citizens.

He said this would focus particularly on youths and women empowerment through agriculture, micro, small and medium scale enterprises, among others.

Igbasan noted that most of the issues raised at last year’s consultative meeting with the stakeholders in the local government had been attended to.

He, therefore, called on the stakeholders to come up with their priorities and contributions to achieve an all-inclusive budget that would further develop their areas and improve the living standards of the people.

Earlier, the Director of Budget, Mr Stephen Aworere, said the forum was meant to enhance transparency and accountability in the budget preparation process of the state.

Aworere stated that the rationale behind the adoption of MTEF was to achieve an accurate estimation of resources available to the state within the medium term planning horizon.

He emphasised the need for an increase in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the state in order to meet critical needs of the people.

The traditional ruler of Oke-Igbo, Oba Oluwole Babajide, commended the Akeredolu-led administration for the various infrastructural developments across the state.

Babajide described the governor as a man of his words and passionate about the welfare of his people.

Also, the Chairman of Odigbo Local Government, Mrs Margaret Akinsuroju, applauded the governor for the rehabilitation and construction of roads, particularly the Ore Fly Over Bridge.
